The Goldman family’s connection to beauty began in 1946 when Ryan’s grandparents opened the first Empire Beauty Store in San Diego. Over the years, the family expanded into retail, distribution, and salon operations, helping shape how beauty products reached both professionals and consumers. Those decades of experience revealed a consistent truth that while the beauty industry thrived on creativity, true technological progress often lagged behind.
Recognizing that opportunity, Ryan founded Spur Concepts to build the advancements the industry had long needed but rarely pursued. Today, we continue that mission by turning deep industry insight into purposeful innovation, shaping technologies that elevate performance, enhance experience, and define what comes next in beauty.

Guided by mentorship from leading beauty innovators and supported by experts in the technology sector, including engineers and executives from Qualcomm, Ryan turned that concept into reality.
